Scythian recurve bows

The Scythians were excellent horse archers during the 7th and 3rd centuries BC, and their tactics and weaponry had a significant impact on the surrounding peoples and cultures. The importance of Scythian horse archery is reflected in the writings of Herodotus, who extensively described their archery in his work on the history of the Scythians. He claimed that the Scythian bows were the best in the world. The horses were trained in a special manner to fit perfectly with archery, allowing them to move and attack excellently on the battlefield. The Scythian warfare style was so unique and effective that even the Roman Empire and the Greeks learned from them.
